Pyrography is an ancient art form of decorating objects by burning images into the
surface with a heated implement. It is also commonly called pokerwork or woodburning.
The word pyrography translated literally means "writing with fire".
A wide variety of natural tones and shades can be achieved
using this method. It lends itself easily to a wide variety of
expressions and it is my favorite for use in pet portraits. The finished product
produces an image that is as warm and inviting as the sepia photographic images of the past.
